Normandy D-Day Tour

If you’re staying in Paris, the best way to see Omaha Beach and get a glimpse of the D-Day Normandy Landings, is via a minibus day tour.Omaha Beach

D-Day is June 6, 1944 — the day on which the Invasion of Normandy began — commencing the Western Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi occupation during World War II. [Wikipedia]

An experienced and knowledgeable guide, who speaks English, will pick you up at your Paris hotel and drive you to Normandy in a deluxe air-conditioned vehicle.

The itinerary (subject to change) is something like this:

  1. First stop is at the “Pointe du Hoc”, 90 feet high cliffs, where a 225-strong Army Ranger Assault Group landed on the morning of D-Day. It was a German fortified strong point.
  2. American CemeteryThen you will stop at Colleville sur Mer to visit the American Cemetery that overlooks Omaha Beach. There will be plenty of time to see the 9,000 white crosses and spend time at the chapel and memorial.
  3. The next stops are other famous WWII locations, such as Arromanches and the vestiges of the artificial harbor (Mulberry Bridge), Longues-sur-Mer and the famous German artillery battery (with guns still intact), that gave the Allies a severe pounding on the morning of June 6, 1944.
  4. On your return to Paris, you will visit the Mémorial de Caen (Peace Museum), regarded as probably the best World War II museum in France.

www.easyCar.com low cost car rental onlineSure, you could rent a car and drive to Omaha Beach yourself, but why suffer so much traffic stress and stand a good change of getting lost while, instead, you could be relaxing in air-conditioned luxury and enjoy both the trip and the day!

The Greatest Place Of All Time

Bonjour Ca va Je suis magnifique merci beaucoupSo there we were leaving the City of Lights behind and just about as walkedout as we could be. It was really nice to spend a couple of days in a campsite with access to a laundry and an information desk full of power points to charge our seemingly endless batteries. But at euro21.50 a day it was starting to break our budget. HahaSo off we

In the footsteps of Soldiers

When we first started planning our roadtrip through Europe there was really only one place that I was concerned about going and that was the beaches of Normandy. For those of you that don't know my Grandfather on my Mom's side was among those that stormed the beaches during World War II. He was in the third wave of soldiers which is probably one of the deciding factors of my family existing

Rouen France

This middle ages city is well preserved and so pretty. It is here where St. Joan of Arc was sold to the British who tortured her as a witch and burned her at the stake. It seems that no one spoke up on her behalf. The church built in her memory is an incredible piece of very modern architecture in the town of gothic churches The cathedral of Notre Dame so frequently painted by Monet dominat
