Does It Surprise You That Normandy (northern France) Lies At The Same Latitudes Than Bavaria (southern Germany?
Does it surprise you that Lyon, Clermont Ferrand or Limoges (central France) is at same latitudes than Venice (Italy)?
Does it surprise you that the northermost point of France hardly reach the latitude of the middle of Europe?
Does it surpise you that southernmost point of metropolitan France is situated at similar latitudes than Puglia (southern Italy)?
I asked those question because I spoke about this subject with a English friend, he could’nt believe that most of France was much more at south than Germany. He thought Paris or northern France being lined with Berlin; central France lined with central/south Germany; and though only a little southern strip of France with quite lined with northernmost parts of Italy Italy. He actually thought that all of Italy was situated south of France; while both countries share 60% of their territories situated at similar latitudes.
I would like to know if his vision is a commonly spread view of France location in Europe.

That is interesting, but latitudes don’t really “surprise” me…
