How Can I Locate A World War Ii Grave In France?
My grandfather’s brother served in the United States Army during World War II. He was killed in combat and buried somewhere in France. All I know is that he was not killed in Normandy. He was killed after D-Day in a town somewhere in France. I have a picture of my grandfather by his grave yet I do not know where the grave is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated because if I can find where he is buried I want to go visit it.

If you have a photo of your great-uncle’s grave then it is officially recorded as it is not an unknown soldier’s grave. All American WW2 war graves come under the American Battle Monuments Commission. You may find the information you want on this site, or you can contact them with the information that you hold about your relative.http://www.abmc.gov/home.php

I give you the adresses and phone number of American Cemeteries, you can also write to them.
It is very sad so many people dead.
To explain you the word in French,
- inconnus : means unknown (a name could not be given)
- Identifié : means identified, the best way to find your grand father
- Disparus : means : the name was known, but they never have been found.
