Looking For Info On Small Village In Normandy, France Called Desertines And Surrounding Area?
I don’t know it so I can’t give you any first-hand information. But I can give you some links. Désertines is not technically located in present-day Normandy but so close to it that it may have been part of the former historic Duchy/Province of Normandy.
It has a population of 542 people, a 9th century church was mentioned in early writings. There is a christianized menhir (neolithic standing stone) in front of the 19th century church. It is located in the département of the Mayenne near the southern border of the Lower Normandy region (départements of Manche and Orne) and really close to the département of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany:http://www.tourisme-mayenne.com/decouvri…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayenne (if you understand French, you can go to the original French article which is more detailed.)http://www.ornetourisme.com/index_en.asp (area north east of Désertines)http://www.manchetourisme.com/medianet-u… (area north/north west of Désertines)http://www.bretagne35.com/index_uk.asp?L… (area west of Désertines)http://www.communes.com/pays-de-la-loire…
Désertines is in a rural area. You should ask your question on the French portal so local people may answer you:http://fr.answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=Aq…http://fr.answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=Am…
