What can I use in Paris for self defense?

I will be traveling to France in July. I will be spending most of the time in Paris and a few days in Normandy. What weapons can I legally carry to protect myself?
Or maybe a better question….
What weapons can’t I legally carry?

I would prefer answers from people who live or have lived in Paris and/or France.
Thank you.

Other than Paris, what’s best in December?

We don’t need to go to Paris, both my bf and I have been there many times, we’ll spend just a few days in France somewhere between La Rochelle (where he lives) and the next country we’ll head to for xmas (Germany, Czech Rep., Italy). Still, I want a few days to experience some part of France besides Paris! What would be best in December? When I consulted Lonely Planet it seemed to say that after Paris they most recommended either the Loire valley, Normandy, or Strasbourg (Nice and Provence was lower on their list). Normandy would be convenient if we were head for England but we’re not, plus I doubt we can enjoy Monet’s home as much in Dec. What about the Loire valley? Champagne area? what do you recommend in December?

Traveling to Rome and Paris efficiently and on a budget…?

Will be traveling (in celebration of college graduation) to Europe from May 13th (Wed) to May 25th (Mon). I want to fly into Rome and out of Paris, spending about half of my 11 vacation days in each country. I’m open to visiting Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Milan, Paris, possibly Brussels, Normandy, Mont Ste. Michel, etc. I know it’s impossible to do it all. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas or a successful itinerary for this trip? What should I leave out, and what is a must see? I’ll have a France/Italy 5 travel day Eurail pass.

Good travel ideas for London, England and Paris, France?

We will be in each place 4 days over March Break. I was wondering what the “highlights” are, and what is overrated. Also, in Paris we might take a day trip to Normandy, but I was wondering if there were another nice place like this closer to Paris, or about the same distance. For London, is it worth going out to the countryside, if just for one night? If so, what would be a good spot to go/stay? Since we are in both places for such a short time, I know days will be jam-packed so please, feel free to post as much as possible. It would be better to keep things cheap, but if there was 1 or 2 big-ticket places, that would be fine.
Thank you!

If you could do a 1 or 2 day side trip, would it be to Normandy, Tours or Clermont-Ferrand? I need a website for rail service in france and car rental. Any info is helpful. Kids are 12,11,8.

Paris To Normandy France?

Whats the best way to get to Normandy from Paris? I’m looking mainly to visit the D-Day beaches and the American Cemetary. Whats the easiest(and closest to the beaches) town/city in Normandy to get to? Im guessing trains. Are there any major train lines that run close to any of those destinations? Thanks for any help.
