Trip to France! 2011!!!!!!!!!! But I need some more info?

So me and my buds (We are gonna be 16, except for my pal who is gonna be 19 in 2011) Now we are going to go to france in 2011 and without parents just me and my two friends 16/ and 18 year old and we’re flying there unaccomponied but my friend is flying with us who is 19 and is gonna be with us at all times. NOW when we get there we have a place to stay! Saint Germaine on Saint Germaine street. Walking distance to notre dame. I have been there with my family in ’08 and I remember a fair ammount of. Now we are going to hang out with a bunch of pen pals I have met over the internet. About 6 of them :3 and I am wondering……. Can a tourist from the states be allowed to drink and smoke at 16 accomponied by a 19 year old? I heard in france it is diferent. So basically we’re going there for about a month and are gonna have a blast with my pen pals and are gonna go to resturants and drink, hang out in the Notre Dame park and smoke with them (I know for a fact that they all smoke because they have photos of them on the site with a cigarette sticking out of their mouths.) And we are not going just for drinking/smoking we are doing it to experiance the great scenery of Paris(Maybe Normandy if we can afford it!) and we still have along time ’till then but basically.. Do you think $1500 american dollars will get us anywhere (Per person.) and we’re gonna all three split a room at the Hotel. Now do you think we could do this? Or should we make our budget bigger? We are willing to get it bigger. We plan to be working mowing lawns, working for my friend who roofs houses and makes extensions etc… Now you think 2 years will get us enough money? We plan to work 6 days a week and 7 hours a day.

Doing a trip to Europe, and wanting tips on transportation…?

Hi everyone! I am planning an 18 day trip in Europe with my fiance. We are wanting to start in Ireland, and then head to London, then Northern France (near St-Michel) and then the D-Day landing sites in Normandy, followed by Paris. Then from Paris, we want to go through Switzerland and then end in Italy.

Here is our question. We are planning on getting a EuroRail pass so we can take the trains. But what about when going from small areas? Does the train cover a LOT of area in Europe? For example: How will we get from London to some of the castles in the countryside without having to rely on a $300 tour bus/group? We want to be independent on some of these things and do it without a huge group.

Or how will we get from St-Michel and Caen (northern France) to Paris? I was told there was train service, but does the EuroRail pass cover EVERY Train in the continent?

So any help on small modes of transportation would be great. Thanks!

Is this an expensive price for a trip to France?

It is a school trip and I am hearing mixed things. Some are saying it is a good deal while others are saying that it is a rip off.
The overall price is $2,83.00
Here is the breakdown:
Program fee – $2075.00
Departure fees $549.00
Protection Plan -$129.00
Weekend Supplement- $80.00

Its 9 nights overall. We are staying in Paris, Lorie Valley, St.Malo, Normandy, and then back to Paris. Breakfast and supper are included in the cost, we only have to buy lunch. It also pays for our admission to Notre Dame, Versailles, Charte Cathedral, Chenonceau, Amboise, A wine cellar, Mont-St-Michel, Juno beach centre, Caen Memorial, Rouen Cathedral and the Louvre.
We also have one tour guide that stays with us th entire trip and guided tours of Versailles, Rouen, Lorie Valley and St. Malo.
Is it worth it or am I being robbed? I really have no clue and since I, a high school student with a minimum wage part time job, am paying for all of it, I really don’t want to be waisting my money. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
oops! the overall price is $2833.00 not $283.00! lol but that would be a steal for sure!
It covers everything accept for lunches and spending money.
It is going to be in March

Is a two week trip to Europe enough time?

I was lucky enough to have the chance to study in Spain for a semester two years ago. I was there for four months, and when I had time off, was able to visit many countries. Upon my return to the U.S, I couldnt help have regrets over things I never got around to doing. But, I realized that based on the sheer size of Europe, you cant do everthing. Well, I am going for two weeks after xmas, and really want to make an agenda so I get the most of my time. I was going to visit the following:

Dublin, Ireland
London, England (maybe) Been there before
Paris, France (Spend time there, and Normandy Beach)
Seville, Spain (Where I studied)
Lagos, Portugal (Spent a weekend there two years ago)

Price for trip to france?

I was wondering if anyone had any idea for a cost (entire cost [food+airfare etc]) for this itinerary:

“This itinerary is designed for train travelers. To do this trip by train and bus, make liberal use of minivan tours and taxis. A France Flexipass with nine train days — buying tickets in France for days 5, 7 and 14 (short and cheap trips) — works fine. A France Rail and Drive Pass is another good option. A car is especially handy for exploring Normandy, the Dordogne, and Provence. If you only have two weeks, end your tour in Nice and skip Honfleur. Bonne route and bon courage!

Day 1: Fly into Paris.

Day 2: Sightsee Paris.

Day 3: More time in Paris.

Day 4: Train and bus to Mont St. Michel via Rennes (4 hrs, arrive on Mont St. Michel about 13:00). Afternoon and night on Mont St Michel.

Day 5: Train to Bayeux (2 hrs, arrive about 11:45). Afternoon for visiting Bayeux. Sleep in Bayeux.

Day 6: All day for D-Day beaches by minivan, taxi, bike, bus, or a combination of these. Sleep in Bayeux.

Day 7: Train to Caen, then bus to Honfleur (2 hrs). Sleep in Honfleur.

Day 8: Bus to Lisieux or Deauville then train to Paris. Transfer to Gare d’Austerlitz and take the train to Amboise (7 hrs total). Sleep in Amboise.

Day 9: All day for touring Loire châteaux (good options by bus, bike or minivan tour). Sleep in Amboise.

Day 10: Train to Sarlat (5 hrs, arrive about 15:00). Afternoon and evening in Sarlat. Sleep in Sarlat.

Day 11: All day for caves and canoes by bike or minivan/taxi tour. Sleep in Sarlat.

Day 12: Train to Carcassonne (5.5 hrs, leaving about noon is best, though earlier trips are possible). Dinner and evening wall walk. Sleep in Carcassonne.

Day 13: Morning wall walk, then train to Arles (2.5 hrs). Afternoon in Arles.

Day 14: Train to Nîmes, then bus to Pont du Gard. Tour the Pont du Gard, then bus to Avignon and spend your afternoon/evening there (consider dinner). Train back to Arles. Sleep in Arles.

Day 15: Morning in Arles or Les Baux (by taxi or tour), afternoon train to Nice (4 hrs), set up in Nice. Sleep in Nice.

Day 16: All day for Nice and Monaco. Sleep in Nice.

Day 17: Morning train to Lyon (4 hrs). Afternoon and night in Lyon.

Day 18: Train to Chamonix (4 hrs, consider a halfway stopover in Annecy — easy bag check). Sleep in Chamonix.

Day 19: With clear weather, take the mountain lifts up to Aiguille du Midi and beyond. Sleep in Chamonix.

Day 20: Early train to Paris (arrive about 13:30). Last afternoon and night in Paris. (Or make it a 23-day tour with a scenic, 6.5-hr train through Switzerland to Colmar, spend two nights there, then take the TGV back to Paris.)

Day 21: Fly home.

What do I wear on my trip to France?

I will be going to Paris, the Loire Valley, St. Malo, and Normandy with a small group from my school next week. I know it’s supposed to be in the 70s next weeks there. What temperature is the AC kept at about? … and, of course, what’s in fashion/acceptable to wear/won’t make me stand out too much?

Merci!

I have found lots of info about staying near Omaha beach but not much regarding the sites of Canadian landing. Coming via rail, any good B&B’s to recommend that are reasonably priced.
Also wonder about car rental, dont want to drive in big cities but could manage country roads probably.
